South Konkan Education Society is a premier organization running a full range of educational institutions in Belgaum.

S.K.E. Society came to be formed in 1944 at Savantwadi. The Society’s first educational institution, Rani Parvati Devi College (named after its first patron member, the late Rajamata of Savantwadi) was started in 1945 at Savantwadi.The college offered courses in both the Arts and Science streams. Later Rani Parvati Devi College was relocated to Belgaum in 1948.

In 1966, the Science stream was separated from RPD College as "Govindram Seksaria Science College", well known as GSS College.The College regards itself as an academic community where scholars, both students and teachers, have the freedom and responsibility to communicate, imbibe and enlarge mankind's store of knowledge. It stands for academic excellence and endeavors to create an environment, which generates love for learning, habits of critical thought and effective communication. The college thereby aims to equip its students with an intellectual, social and ethical outlook that will make them productice members of society.
